The Interview!
Length: 30:35

Magic players every where were stunned by the announcement of the major core set changes coming with the next core set “Magic 2010″ or “M10″.

Aaron Forsythe was nice enough to take some time and talk about the core set changes, why we should be excited and how this set is going to rock. Hard. Check out the initial announcement on the official Wizards of the Coast site and then take a listen!

Some new tidbits is that we can definitely expect to see some M10 limited GP’s, PTQ’s and eventually PT’s. It was mentioned potentially FIVE M10 limited GP’s later this year! We also confirmed that Unsummon will be in the set, cards going back as far as Alpha and for sure up through Time Spiral and Planar Chaos and pretty sure Gravedigger will be making an appearance as well. Given the new cards and overall revamp of the core set, expect M10 to have a full preview week and the promotion that we expect from expert expansion sets.

Aaron also made Tom’s day by letting him know to watch for an awesome new Ooze in the M10 set, yeah baby!

Thanks a lot Tom and Aaron, the changes will be interesting at the very least. Excuse me while I find someone to trade my pain lands to before they go out of style :P

  2. wolfv says:

this interview is awsome!!! i am amazed that you got it so quickly, how much work did it take for you to arrange this tom?

  3. Will says:

Great interview, Tom. Was the play/cast wording change off limits?

  4. Chis says:

Great work Tom, very informative. Aaron comes off a little stand-offish sometimes in the beginning but Tom’s enthusiasm won the day, as usual.

  5. Thomas Painter says:

In the intial article Aaron said, “Most of our potential players know a good deal about traditional fantasy; when they play our game, it should feel as though the fantasy they know is coming to life.” Traditional fantasy, that was exactly what I was looking for when I picked up my first Starter Pack. I had first seen Magic advertised in Dragon Magazine and was really looking forward to it, but as soon as I opened it up and saw the cards I was like, “WTF is this?! I want dragons and magic and stuff! …not stupid flowers and jewelry and zombie pac-men on a pilgrimage to Stonehinge. Not living up to traditional fantasy is why I threw away my Unlimited edition Black Lotus, Moxs, and Time Walk. I really hope WotC lives up to their promise, because the fact that this was not the case in the early days is the reason I threw away my Unlimited edition Black Lotus, Moxs, and Time Walk.
