Mr. Suitcase #5 – Cube Squared

March 16, 2009 Mr. Suitcase No Comments

This episode I talk about 2 drafts I did 3/15 at Newcastle Comics.  Everyone had a blast.  The first was a traditional 8 man that used half of my cube cards.  It went 3 rounds and I did not finish in the prizes.

The next draft was a 7 man using essentially the last half of the cube.  We first played a 7 man multiplayer game where the first person eliminated would not play in the second stage which was a 3 team two-headed giant game with the teams being made by the order of finish in the free for all.  1 was paired with 6 and 2 with 5 and 3 with 4.  The card pools would be combined for a rebuild with each team getting one of the 3 extra packs.

Links below are to cards that will be relevant to the cast.

The last bit of the show I go through cards that are on the outs in my cube for Lands Artifacts and Multicolor.

Be sure you let us know when you get a cube list up somewhere. I’ve been interested in these things ever since they popped up at the Invitational. My cohost Brian made one of his own that we drafted with, and that was awesome. I’ve been wanting to make a “more fun” cube instead of a “more power” cube, but I’m lazy.

Great episode, by the way. I sorta neglected to mention that at the beginning. I totally agree with all your ideas for removal. I’d say knock the number of lands down just a tad too. Having them equal with the rest of the colors just seems wrong for some reason.
