Cards Ahoy #15 – I need clown shoes

December 8, 2009 Cards Ahoy No Comments

I get down to business and explain the rules updates from last episode and blame it on the Robot Chicken and no harm was meant.

I review a new RG deck I created centered around [card]Chandra Ablaze[/card], [card]Colossal Might[/card], [card]Rip-Clan Crasher[/card] and more!

do you listin to your own casts?, if not you should, then you try making them not suck. you got poor public speaking, often you sound like you just smoked up, if you did thats kool but um, um ah um. sucks to listen to.

Dude, I gotta say, don’t worry about the people taking offense to the show. It was a joke, and if they don’t like it, they probably don’t like any other show on Adult Swim (and if they do, I put it to them that I can find an example of something else they are offended by in the shows they do like from it). If they don’t like it, they won’t listen to it. As long as you are enjoying ‘casting, keep doing it! I’m not trying to offend anybody either, but anyone who has listened to your other episodes should have known you didn’t mean anything by it.

And when am I going to have my guest appearance?!

Just kidding; I’m not that concerned about it.

Anyways, good episode. If you give me a decklist I’d be more able to help you out… I like seeing things.

I’m not very good at magic so I haven’t got a lot of pointers on your deck. But I can tell you that you definitely do not want to play Goblin Guide. There very few decks fast enough, that the extra land the opponents get won’t matter. Basically in this sort of deck you want to use the first turns setting up for Chandra/charger. So maybe Rampant Growth or Birds of Paradise would be good. If you end up playing something like Vines of Vastwood in addition to the Colossal mights Birds could also help you get in the last points of damage.

Also don’t worry about the haters.

hey, enjoy the show. Figured I’ve been listening and I’d give back a little. On a red green for the theme you are going here is my 2 cents.

    creatures
    4x great sable stag
    4x mold shambler
    4x obsidian fireheart
    4x lotus cobra
4x master of the wild hunt

    spells
    3x chaandra ablaze
    2x garruk wildspeaker
    1x sarkhan vol
    4x volcanic fallout
3x colossal might (the +4+2 trample instant)
    4x lightning bolt

    land
    8x fetches
    4x rootbound crag
    12x basic

I dunno how good it will work but hey, may be worth a shot. Instead of mold shmambler I’d actually maybe put in bloodbraid. But the problem is there isn’t anything outstanding to cascade into. Colossal might would be fun though.

thanks for the show! I love mtgcast as a whole! Listen on stitcher daily.

now looking at it. Its not perfect. Too many 4 drops. If harrow could fit somewhere it would work better. And bloodbraid + fallout would not be a good plan.

  6. Tangent says:

Yeah man don’t even worry about it. Some people have nothing better to do than drag people down. I get flipped shiot about my show all the time. I make fun of those idiots and move on. Its all you can do.

    Good show

  7. Andrew Sinclair says:

I would think of putting Mark of Mutiny into your deck. Also, maybe Spire Barrage for a game finisher (I would probably go mono-red). Also, Volcanic Fallout and Pyroclasm to hold down the early game might allow you to play a larger CMC deck in general.

  8. Den says:

Good show, I have to say that I perfer when you do decks. Reveiwing cards is great, but I think putting a card in the context of a deck is much more fun.

And as for the the comment i didn’t like it much. I do think adressing it in your next show was a classy move.

    Ceep up the good work

  9. JordanP says:

What do you guys think of sharkon vol insted of chandra?

  10. Tangent says:

I like Vol a lot and would love to see him thrown into a deck. It would be worth testing for sure

  11. Thorn says:

OK, so I just listened to the Esper deck episode, and I have to say that I am sorry to hear that you gave up on this deck so easily. I was thinking of something very similar, but using cards like the Ultimatums ande Elemental Appeal, and pitching them to get them in the graveyard with her first ability, then you could cast them from the yard. As far as Safe Passage, just through in a Unstable Footing, cast it, and if it gets countered, it is in the graveyard for her Limit Break. Plus I love the Idea of Hellsaprk Elemental, pitch it, unearth it, and get in there.
