Tom & Gavin & Jack & Eric & Conley & Steve – Your Monday Night Magic news team!

@ Steve, you always sound so unsure when asked a question, I mean this in a constructive critisim sort of way, you should be more asertive, just say the 6 mana angel is increadibly unlikly to make a standard aperance, dont ramble on about how you would need to check the opinion of Gavin or Conley, just say, heres a fun 6 mana angel, going to be tearing up some kitchen tables or edh games,
@ Tom and Steve: Thanks for insight on my MPR question, and I also want to note that this was my first mailing since Late September, in which I got my first textless foil mailing (Lightning Bolt). Overall, this has been my fourth MPR mailing since I started playing Magic again in Feb. 2009; by the sounds of it I may have gotten extra cards for passing over the first foil threshhold, if there is such a thing.
Hey guys! thanks for the nod!
I live in Madison WI btw
Evan Erwin is definitely coming on this one so there should be another awesome magic show after. Cost has been floating right around $540 per person right now for the cruise and the basic tournament package is $99 and includes a bunch of sealed events and 2 constructed/standard events.
also. ahhh nossir. not running a $10 sealed for $2k prize
I think someone put something in their watr over there @ channelfireball.
thanks again!
Steve Port
@Andrew: In regards to the MPR mailing….how it work’s is this….for every 5 sanctioned tournaments you enter, WOTC will send you 2 textless cards (one new, one old). Then for every 20 sanctioned tournaments you receive 1 Foiled Textless card. The mailings are approximately ever 3-4 months around the same time each year. The DCI (who keeps track of your tournament ratings and results) also keeps track of the number of sanctioned tournaments you enter in. Hope this helps. Cheers!
@Tom and Steve: Awesome show, keep up the great work. I’m looking forward to seeing what that Ooze is too Tom
Peace out!
Sorry guys, but Mr. Bowie wasn’t the one spinning the icy manipulator. I watched that movie once with a roommate and he proudly told me that he watched the “making of.” (I know, right?) Turns out they brought in an expert magician of slight of hand to stand behind Bowie and do his spinny orb-y thang.
I know, a little part of me died too when I heard that.
And about, you know, actual magic- I’m liking WWK so far. I’m keeping an eye on the commons. I’ve been pretty into the pauper PDC events on MTGO, and WWK is looking to shake things up a bit.
If anyone reading doesn’t know about PDC, http://pdcmagic.com/. Lots of fun, cheap, and free tournaments all week long, every week.
I swear they aren’t paying me to say that; I just feel its something anyone on MTGO can get into if they want.
Worldwake is so awesome. oO
Jace is awesome, a 5-card dual man-land cycle, so many flavor homeruns (OMOMOMnath)…and all that in a small set, are you kidding me?
Now I actually have to listen to the podcast and get my big paycheck from WotC.
do all the exiled cards go to north dakota?
Some go to North Dakota, others go to Conley’s couch. They’re equally bad
@ Convery: Thanks for the feedback. I’ll call ‘em like I see ‘em and take the heat.
Do you always wear the same suit David Bowie? Or do you have a closet full of CH-CH-CH-CHANGES?
Mark my words, Tectonic Edge will become a staple in Standard 100%, here’s the money uncommon you’ve been waiting for.
Hey steve,
Maro said today (25/01) that “The famous ” [CENSORED] without [CENSORED] ” turns out to be “kicker without limits.”". Good call!
Also thanks for your preview, I think you did stand your ground by saying your (casual) perspective on some WWK cards.
