So, having been there for the game. I gotta take some of the blame. That was the only ‘deck’ the guy brought, and he had been sitting there for about an hour waiting for an EDH game to start, at which he asked if he could play his deck. I looked it over, it didn’t seem overly obnoxious. (granted it’s a little harder without the card art) Plus I would have felt like a dick after he waited so patiently. When I looked over the deck, I was looking for ‘crazy expensive’ that a “normal” player wouldn’t have cards, I didn’t see any, so I allowed it*
As far as the actual ‘card’ choices. The deck was legitimate, as a once in a while deck. Counterspells and other control elimates are a legitimate part of the game. I have a hard time justifying preventing players from playing cards they own. However, there may be consequences to your choices. Overall, I think your plays towards him were fair and justified. However, I do think you let him rattle you to easy. And towards the end it started to get a little to personal, and a little to awkward. And that doesn’t even include me yelling a the guy about the pizza box. Thank you acknowledging I won that game. And a pox on you for not choosing my Sally story. I guess it needed more unicorns
* although, I don’t think I will be doing that again anyone soon
