One-Year Anniversary Special

Welcome to this Special Edition of Wednesday Write Up. This episode celebrates the one-year anniversary of the MTGCast Network! Dom, Tom, Gavin and Jesse have a roundtable discussion of the events of the last year and what’s to come. In light of the current MTG block out right now, we decided to divide the show into three sections - Past, Present, and Future!

Past - Time Spiral

Dom’s original intro for MTGCast (which is now MNM).

We then cover a brief timeline of the network, starting with episode #1 exactly one year ago up through to today.

Each host answers four questions that explain their history with MTGCast:

1) What’s your favorite moment on all of MTGCast?
2) How did you find MTGCast?
3) What made you want to become a host?
4) What has made you laugh the most on MTGCast?

Present - Planar Chaos

We thank our listeners for the huge increase in downloads over the last few weeks, mention our new forums, and of course our MSN (mtgcast@hotmail.com) and new voice mail line: (646) 797-3125.

As you know, the six-month anniversary spawned the MTGCast sister site, Roll To Hit and now the one-year anniversary likewise brings us the brand-new TableTopLand.com gaming news site!

Also announced are several shows to be appearing very soon on the network: Gaming with Gavin, Tapped Out (with TRB), Last Pick Combos (with Dom and Jesse), and an as-yet untitled show starring Chris Otwell. Dom also hints at some upcoming interviews with various MTG authors and/or artists, but he’s keeping the details a secret!

What’s to come - Future Sight

There will soon be 50 episodes of MNM and 100 episodes on the MTGCast Network in total!

Each host answers two more questions:

1) Where do you see MTGCast in a year?
2) Who would you most like to hear interviewed?

We talk about other upcoming events MTGCast will be appearing at, such as MTG Worlds ‘07 in New York, baby!

, (the day before worlds starts and the pro player party), there’s not
going to me much of a write up here since im in a bit of a rush to

* At its base, it is a pirate-themed set that is in love and all about pirates with a smattering of ninjas and monkeys

* Started in episode 22 ‘D-E-L-A-Y-E-D’ with Black Belt the Pirate (I think DC had a hand in this if I remember correctly)

* With a great OS program called ‘Magic Set Editor’ by Twan van
Laarhoven. An absolutely amazing card for creating fantasy home-made
magic cards that has an unbelievable number of options.

How do you get involved with Ah-Hoy!

* Simple and everyone is welcome! Just register with the forum for
our podcast at board.mtgcast.com and browse to the ‘Ah-Hoy!’ forum
about 2/3 the way down the page.

* From here, you will see sub-forums for the different factions or civilizations in the Ah-Hoy! World (known as Oceania)

* You can post card ideas, story ideas or anything else related in
these areas. You can also discuss the keyword abilities that are being
developed in relation to the factions.

* Once cards are semi-decided upon, I enter them into the MSE set file
and add the card to the searchable spoiler (ahhoycards.mtgcast.com) and
the sub-fourm ‘Work-in-progress Cards’.

* You can also get involved with playtesting by download the MWS and
Apprentice files and see how the cards work together. Especially in the
area of limited play and trying to make Ah-Hoy as limited-friendly as
possible.

Cory Herndon Interview

To cope with the delay of MNM This week, I have decided to release this interview a day earlyer.

Well it seems the time spiral pre release is upon us, but whilst
everyone is thinking of the new set, MTGCast takes a look back at
Ravnica with a fully featured interview with Mr Cory Herndon, writer of
the Ravnica books and Daddy of Agus
, it took about 3 months to get us both online at the same time and
whilst I was expecting the interview to last less than half an hour but
true to form nothing ever goes to plan with MTGCast and an hour and a
half later we were saying goodbyes, this interview not only takles
development on the Ravnica books but his previous (and future
) work within wizards, we also talk about development work out of Magic
with a few suprises in store, the sound quality isnt as good as I would
have liked it to have been however re recording it would have lost the
magic of the show.

This special show of MTGCast was requested by several members, its a
show on limited, the basic thing of it is we open 3 packs each and
discuss what we would choose in each pack and what we wouldnt choose,
Dom had a bit to drink before hand so the sound levels are a little off
(as is his talking ) but apart from that let us know

Welcome to the first of our wednesday write up shows, each show we
introduce you to a different format, a different style of playing, an
introduction to aspects of magic such a the stack and sideboarding this
will be taken on each week by one of The MTGCast Networks hosts, this
week its Tom with an introduction to the tribal format.
