Sorry for the delay on part 3. This one is the end of GP Denver. Alex Lee joins us for about 25 minutes. The bus gets turbo charged for the next 1 hour 50 mins after that as Chapin, Kibler, Black and the winner of the Grand Prix, Gerry Thompson, take control and talk about everything from the GP to poker to stories of old school magic players. We thank all of our guests for having a good time on the cast with us and all of you for listening. Normal Magic School Bus glory will continue this weekend.

Part two of the Mythic GP:Denver PodCast. In this segment, Rob actually chimes in and gives his 20 seconds worth of interaction as we get to talk to former pro Brian Kibler. Patrick Chapin and US Nationals team member Sam Black also join us for this hour.
Once Kibler gets the word he needs to leave to play his next round, the School Bus picks up Steve Sadin, Antonino De Rosa, and Paul Cheon.

Part 3 will be up soon. Thank you for listening and to all our guests. Thanks to Road Warrior Chris Otwell for continuing to co-host this hour.

This Week in Magic
Congrats to Gerry Thompson for winning GP Denver! Chris Otwell joins us after attending GP Denver and being in the “Featured Match” for the first round (and sporting a MTGCast t-shirt to boot)! Derek and Chris have some good discussion of the top 8 decks and card choices. Derek digs into the meaty Paul Jordan article breaking down the top decks from Nationals. Gavin would be proud of the September FNM promo being Thirst for Knowledge. Tom is excited for more news regarding the Jace novel, titled “Agents of Artifice“. And we have some more info regarding the Wizards Play Network and the Shards of Alara pre-releases (along with the coolest wedding cake ever seen).

MTGCast News
Chris runs us through all of the coverage from GP Denver including a bunch of talk with Patrick Chapin, Paul Cheon and a bunch of other pros. We even have some new news on the Patrick Chapin TV show(s)! We also discuss the existence of mtgcast.com and how to subscribe to both this show and the other shows on the network.

Emails, Comments and COMMENT CONTEST!

This is a new weekly contest where I announce a question on the podcast, you post a response (or story) on the MTGSalvation forum for replies to the episode and you can win a card hand-selected from Tom’s large collection (and winner is announced on the next week’s show).

This week’s question is: What color sweater should Gavin wear to Worlds OR tell us about your first game of magic!
Special guest host is Chris Otwell!

This Week in Magic
Congrats to Gerry Thompson for winning GP Denver! Chris Otwell joins us after attending GP Denver and being in the "Featured Match" for the first round (and sporting a MTGCast t-shirt to boot)! Derek and Chris have some good discussion of the top 8 decks and card choices. Derek digs into the meaty Paul Jordan article breaking down the top decks from Nationals. Gavin would be proud of the September FNM promo being Thirst for Knowledge. Tom is excited for more news regarding the Jace novel, titled "Agents of Artifice".

The winner this week of the FOIL Rekindled Flame is ... Hobo Sapience!

This is a new weekly contest where I announce a question on the podcast, you post a response (or story) on the MTGSalvation forum for replies to the episode and you can win a card hand-selected from Tom's large collection (and winner is announced on the next week's show).

This week's question is: What color sweater should Gavin wear to Worlds OR tell us about your first game of magic!
Prize of the week: Foil promo Zoetic Cavern!

…The Finale of the Saga, or so you might have thought… Day 3 of GP:Denver

Ok, I during this entire series of 7 GP:Denver Podcasts that I posted during the past 36 hours for my show, I left a lot of details to be determined by the website reader on what transpired…

In most of these PodCasts, there were a variety of Magic Professional Players being interviewed between 1 and 15 minutes each, as I walked around the site doing “walk-up with Microphone coverage” efforts, as well as round-by-round coverage of what I did in the Grand Prix itself. These podcasts included people such as Patrick Chapin, Lee Steht, Antonio De Rosa, Sam Black, Conely Woods, and a number of other local players and Magic Professional Players.

Overall, an excellent series of PodCasts for the Masses.

James Cagle and I did another 4-6 hours of recorded Material for The Magic School Bus show as well, including a nearly 2 hour solid section where Patrick Chapin was “Guest-Hosting” the show. That should be up sometime within the week, as James is doing the editing of that material. That portion is absolutely “SOLID GOLD” material, in every facet of the term. The total material may be broken up into several chunks of PodCasts in the near term.

There were so many tournaments over the weekend there is barely enough time to cover everything in one show. On a side not, this is the second shortest school bus aired yet. You can make short bus jokes if you want, but Reynolds did not join us this week, so those jokes would be moot. We cover the top 8 of the United States National Championship, where fellow Coloradoan (not sure that’s a word) almost took it down. Canadian, French and Italian nationals were covered as well as GP Kobe where a new deck emerged called “Faeries” to win the whole thing. There is discussion of the new red heavy archetypes appearing in Standard and Block with some.

The MSB Institute for Advanced Magic Studies has a quick run down on bluffs and examples of how to use your opponents knowledge against him (or the rare occasional her).

Next week, Rob and James, along with Reynolds and Alex Lee will be making a stop on the bus as we do another live cast from the Holiday Inn DIA (or whatever it’s called now) for the second Grand Prix Denver. You never know, maybe some A list celeb players will be getting a ride as well.
