Chewie & Squee have a bit of a weird episode this week. There's a new MTG product announcement, a bizarre mix of sealed and constructed called Jumpstart. That's not so odd these days. But from there we head into all the MTG-related multimedia stuff. There's ManaStrike, SpellSplingers, Legends, and of course Arena on the video game front. There's a new MTG documentary announced (Igniting the Spark), and it'll be done by the same people that did The Toys That Made Us. And don't forget the Russo Brothers and their animated Netflix series coming sometime in the future.
The first DreamHack Arena Open happened last weekend, and it was...less than ideal. With $100k prize pool, only 93 people showed up to play. We'll take a look at some of the potential causes for that underattendance. And then there's SCG's Pioneer Open, with a day 2 metagame breakdown that shows there could be some bannings coming soon if the meta doesn't right itself.
