Black Lives Matter.
We begin this episode with a brief discussion about everything that is going on in the US at the moment, what with the protests about police brutality and the police brutality that they've been getting in response. Just so you know, the No Swearing on Monday Night Magic rule has been lifted for this episode.
Then we accidentally lied to you. We assumed that this episode would be low energy because there are so many big Important Things that are taking up our brainspace. But it turns out that all the anger and frustration about actual life-and-death events can easily boil up in conversations about our disappointment in a corporation that makes a card game. And disappointed we are, as all our news for the last few months have involved bad decisions, walking back bad decisions, screwing up Organized Play more and more, and yet more products designed to separate you from your money in far more insidious ways than usual. So all that comes out in this episode, perhaps with a little more vitriol than we might have if our country wasn't falling apart around us.
So there's a pretty historic and massive B&R update, WotC bans a whistleblower, we discuss their shady-mobile-game marketing tactics, in-person Magic events are canceled for the rest of the year, and yup, there are more Secret Lairs because of course there are.
