After spending the previous episode lambasting Wizards of the Coast for its increasingly shady business practices, you might expect us to give them a break this week, right? Yeah, we're not going to. Not at all.
Two articles that highlight more problematic practices at WotC have come to light in the last few days. The first is an open letter pointing out how there's not just a whole lot of Black folks in the story or in the player base, and that WotC's lack of any motion to fix this has been duly noted. And then there was an article just pointing out WotC's blatant racism in hiring practices and using standard corporate intimidation techniques to keep people from speaking out about it. So yeah, we'll be sharing all that with you, dear listeners. And then we'll urge you all to take off your tinfoil conspiracy hats as we go into why Invoke Prejudice's Gatherer URL is actually an amazing(ly bad) coincidence, not a dog whistle or whatever from WotC.
After that there's a rules change in Commander, a sudden suspension in Historic, new products, and the return of phasing to Standard. TO STANDARD!
And that's it. Black lives matter, trans rights, Covid-19 is still a thing. Be safe out there.
